The problem with this is that it’s visual design at the expense of accessibility.

In your solution the label text of a filled in field is too small to pass any readability tests. Although it’s a fine solution for all 20 year olds with perfect vision, you’re are making it harder for those with worse eyesight. Not to mention the extra dev work that you need to do to make text-to-speech readers correctly read it out.
