The Faces of L.A. Homelessness
Mark Horvath

Thanks for your article. I also have experienced homelessness, and you can never imagine the heartbreak of trying to survive day in and day out with little hope. America is a country rich in many ways, and I find it disturbing there is a major crisis in affordable housing on a national level. I take issue with the fact our Federal govt. sends millions of $ overseas to 3rd world countries while turning its back on American citizens who don’t have a place to call home. This should never happen in any city across America. Greed and the “me, me, me” attitude has taken the place of compassion and empathy for your fellow man. None of us know what led someone to be homeless until we talk to them ourselves. You would be amazed how many people claim the homeless don’t try hard enough to fix their problems. That’s a little difficult when you have a disability from birth. That’s a little difficult when you’re an elderly person on a fixed income who can’t afford exorbitant rents that keep skyrocketing. We all must work together as Americans to ensure everyone has a place to call home. Don’t judge another person until you have walked a mile in their shoes.
