15 Principles for Living a Creative Life

  1. A creative life is about discipline
  2. It’s about putting your ass in the chair, your fingers on the keyboard, your paintbrush on the canvas, or the instrument in your hand.
  3. It’s about showing up when you don’t want to or don’t feel like it.
  4. It’s about showing up when you’re uninspired.
  5. It’s about getting past 500 words so you can reach 1000.
  6. It’s about staying in something so far past when the average person would quit.
  7. It’s about learning to drown out the voices of people who call you insane and question your bravado.
  8. It’s about risking your existing success to reach new heights.
  9. It’s about trying things that might not work.
  10. It’s about being aware of where you hesitate.
  11. It’s about raising your hand, insisting, and volunteering for that opportunity to make a dent in the universe.
  12. It’s about choosing yourself.
  13. It’s about realizing that you don’t have to choose from the options in front of you.
  14. It’s about starting with a blank canvas
  15. It’s about embracing curiosity.
It’s about all these things every single minute of every single day of your entire life. Are you up for it?
