The AVATAR-encrypted-LINK

Developed by ⚡️VOLTZ, the AVATAR-Encrypted-LINK is a secure and encrypted web address of your 3D avatar.
Thanks to its simple but robust code and UI, you can jump from the VOLTZ VAULT into the metaverse in a couple of clicks, granting proof of ownership and letting you wear your favourite 3D NFT project avatars and mesh-up combinations of them.

This tech is infinitely scalable, providing a comprehensive solution to interoperability between projects and platforms.

The VOLTZ VAULT combines this newborn avatar standard with the audited delegate.cash (adopted by Yuga Labs among many other project), mitigating a high number of security risks associated with connecting wallets to multiple platforms.

TLDR

The AVATAR-encrypted-LINK is the most convenient and secure way to use your NFT avatar in the metaverse.

• FAST: from your NFT wallet to the metaverse, in 3 clicks.
• SECURE: its integration with delegate.cash (ETD: Q123) makes it a secure and audited solution. Your COLD wallet doesn’t need to connect to the VULTZ 3D VAULT.
• ROBUST: encrypted with SHA-256 hash algorithm (the same of Bitcoin); offers a reliable proof of NFT ownership.
• INCLUSIVE: all avatars can easily use it, including custom made avatars.
• COLLABORATIVE and OPEN-SOURCE: all avatar projects are welcome to adopt it and to contribute to the tech.

Intro to the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK

We must enhance the avatar tech and UX.

Which issues does the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK solve?

Issues for the collectors

The current solutions are not SAFE

• Collectors usually host their precious NFT avatars in a ledger cold wallet, and rightfully don’t want to connect their cold wallet to 100 different metaverses / apps.
As a result, they do not use their avatar when the access to the metaverse is through wallet connect. Moreover, if they eventually decide to connect to a metaverse, they spend gas to move the avatar in and out their cold wallet.

• Any avatar must be able to easily change wearables, and these wearables might also be custom 3D elements created by the collector. A centralized storage of pre-imported 3D avatars (on the metaverse server for example) cannot facilitate this freedom of expression of the collectors / players digital identity.

Issues for the metaverse platforms and avatar creators

The current solutions are CENTRALIZED, and produce DATA REDUNDANCY

• (a) Each metaverse platform needs to store thousands of unique 3D rigged avatars (one for each collection token). This produces an unsustainable disk space need.
• (b) As solution to the previous issue listed, many metaverse platforms chose to host the separated 3D traits of a collection and combine them on the fly when the collector starts a session.
NOTE: in both (a) and (b) approaches, the work is overwhelming for all involved devs, and must be repeated for each new collection/metaverse.
NOTE: in both (a) and (b) approaches, when one creator needs to update/enhance their avatars, they need to propagate such updates multiple times, on all the servers of all the metaverses.

What is the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK?

How does it work?

Ideal set-up description:

• The avatar creator (collection dev) safely stores the whole collection of rigged avatars ONCE (no redundancy), on a server of choice: not on the server of any metaverse platform (-> decentralization)

• The avatar creator makes the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK available to their collectors, in a 3D-VAULT accessible via web3 wallet authentication.
Open-source code:
VOLTZ open-source code: link available soon

• The collector accesses their avatar in the 3D VAULT, where they can find the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK. The AVATAR-encrypted-LINK is a secure web address of the VRM, or GLB, or FBX rigged 3D avatar.
The link is personal, secret and encrypted. Only the collector knows it.

• The collector then visits the metaverse, gives the link (with copy-paste, or with a deep-link) and the metaverse loads the geometry and maps of the requested avatar.

• The encryption of the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK is created with the SHA-256 algorythm, the one used for Bitcoin. It combines: the wallet address + the avatar token nr + a vault seed phrase defined by the dev.
This means that:
- when the avatar gets transferred to a new wallet (sold, for example), the link rightfully changes;
- the devs can revoke the link of a stolen token (temporarily or perpetually).

Example of an AVATAR-encrypted-LINK

• The metaverse must read (load) the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK, so they must enable an AVATAR LOADER (VRM or GLB or FBX)

• At the player’s request, the metaverse loads the avatar from the external server using the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK, and assigns the avatar to that player.

MONAverse x VOLTZ: a pioneer application.

Let’s take a look at a successful example!

MONA, leading 3D world building platform on the Open Metaverse, has been the first metaverse offering the VRM LINK feature.
This has been a disruptive visionary initiative, and inspired me and VOLTZ to the creation of the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK.

On September 21, 2022 VOLTZ and MONA partnered, to launch the first ever AVATAR-encrypted-LINK metaverse hangout.
More about that epic event, in this thread:

The user experience of a VOLTZ collector, jumping from their 3D VAULT to MONA space, in 3 clicks, can be watched in this short demo video:

The main goal: a collaborative project.

3D Avatar Projects

If many projects collaboratively let their voice be heard by metaverse platforms, they can promote a faster adoption. It is already happening.
Current avatar count: 40.000
(50.000 including udatable metadata traits avatars)

Metaverse Platforms

When a metaverse platform offers the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK feature, it open the doors to a growing number of avatar projects.

Who has already been onboarded?

FAQ

The AVATAR-encrypted-LINK looks secure, but one needs anyways to connect their cold wallet to the 3D VAULT, right?

That’s true, but this solution lets you reduce the connections number to ONE Web3 app (btw the one offered by your collection creator, therefore trusted) instead of connecting to 100 different metaverse platforms!
NOTE: SkullFolks and the engineers at VOLTZ are about to release the Secure 3D-VAULT White Paper. It solves this issue. Stay tuned

Also the GLB drag and drop in browser is very fast and easy.

The AVATAR-encrypted-LINK can carry a proof of ownership, allowing the metaverse to show a “verified token” mark.
The GLB drop remains an excellent option for testing custom and just-modelled 3D files, and for collections that still do not use the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK.

Do I need to load my avatar each time I play?

Yes, but a well optimized avatar’s disk space is 1 to 2 MB, so this is totally sustainable, given the simple and quick link user experience.

But I prefer logging in with my metamask into the metaverse.

We are aware that this is a standard web3 practice, but why should you expose your wallet to the risk of connection to several, potentially unaudited, platforms?

Warning: if I steal the link of another collector, I can access the metaverse with their avatar!

Yes, but that steal is very short lived: as the encrypted link is composed by wallet address + token number + vault seed phrase, devs can:
-> cyclically change the seed phrase, say for example every 24 hours
-> set the AVATAR-encrypted-LINK as ONE-TIME-USE
-> revoke the link of a stolen token (temporarily or perpetually)
