Asset Management Platforms are expensive. Most are dated and don’t enable businesses to work the way they need to.

We don’t think it needs to be this way.

For almost a year, we’ve been collaborating with customers exploring ways to make Asset Management easier for business users, IT users and purchasers.

Welcome to Sky Ledge Asset Management — Beautiful, Secure, Flexible

Here’s a sneak peek into Sky Ledge’s upcoming Open Asset Management platform. Sky Ledge Asset Management is:

  • Friendly: Easy to use for business and easy to build on top of for developers.
  • Supported: For everyone, small to enterprise.
  • Imaginative: Asset Management has been painful for most organisations. A necessary evil. We want IT to feel they can co-create and co-design with their peers in Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, HR, Marketing without resorting to “it’ll be too expensive, too hard or unsupported”.
  • Secure: Build with confidence.
  • Open: Easily pull and push information between systems using open standards.

These characteristics appear in two dimensions.

  1. Sky Ledge Asset experience: The day to day software business stakeholders use.
  2. Sky Ledge Asset engine: The requirements and business rules that determine how the software should work.

The Experience Layer

Asset Management for Industrial Equipment

Beauty and Flexibility aren’t the first terms that come to mind when using typical Enterprise Asset Management platforms. We made a point of ours living up to those two as a key point of difference.

Asset Management experience should flex to different customer landscapes, for example:

  • Hospital managing medical equipment and patients (they’re both different types of assets!)
  • Transport network managing its train network and rail infrastructure
  • An oil or mining company looking to manage production, fleets and equipment, through to a
  • BioTech that considers its R&D Projects as intellectual property assets.

But more importantly, experiences could (and need to) be different within an industry, and sometimes within the organisation. For example, Asset Management may need to behave differently for two different mining organisations.

The following is a suite of snapshots of what Asset Management could look in different industries and settings.

Asset Management for BioTech
Asset Management is about people as much as ‘traditional assets’. Here’s an example of what that could look like in Health.

The Engine

Developers love three things about the Sky Ledge Asset API:

  • Very easy to navigate and understand
  • Super easy to go headless (swap our look with your own front-end or experience layer)
  • Unopinionated — We make no assumptions about how you want to use Asset Management. Whether it’s hospitals, airports or mining, it’s all the same to us.

To allow for flexible experiences, we’ve created a super flexible API for developers to create and manage different types of assets (for non-technical readers: here’s a quick overview of what an API is).

We’re going to be dedicating a post to how easy it is to get started with the Sky Ledge Asset APIs. Click here to subscribe when it’s out.

When will all this become available?

We’re currently accepting interest from innovative organisations looking to trial Sky Ledge Assets. We will be releasing Sky Ledge assets to the public in August and offering three flavours:

  • Free Trial — Have a play and scale up when you’re ready.
  • Cloud Release — Off the shelf asset management + support.
  • Enterprise — White glove implementation and support service.

Reach out to me on andrew@skyledge.com or assets@skyledge.com if you’d like to register your interest in the early adopter programme or broader release.

We hope you enjoy using Sky Ledge Asset Management as much as we did making it!
