Hey Zachary, I agree with you that both of these experiments are unethical because of the psychological impact it had on the test subjects, however I do think that Zimbardo’s experiment was more unethical. Despite Zimbardo ending the experiment early, the experiment wasn’t ended early enough, even with the cries from some of the prisoner characters. I also do not think it is unethical to try and deceive people into what you are testing them for because of the Hawthorne Effect (when people behave differently because they are aware you are watching them). But in this context I can understand, because their ignorance to the situation caused them a significant amount of stress!
