Don’t work with psychopaths

This is really great, Livia. I had the unfortunate experience of working with a really, really, really skilled psychopath once and it actually took me YEARS to figure out that is what happened. This surprised me because my interest in psychopathy went all the way back to when I was a 18-year-old undergraduate calling up Dr. Robert Hare on a payphone (!) to ask to clarify how to properly administer the Hare Psychopathy Scale (he was perplexed; “Are you a graduate student?” he asked, “Why are you calling me?”). So imagine my shock when I realized several years after the fact that I had been completely taken.

I too have a “delta file” of sorts. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s a file of moments organized by date. I have taken also to measuring my mood daily with the My Wonderful Days app, and now I can analyze moments of good and bad, and cross reference it to meetings, events, and interactions with particular individuals. This is highly recommended! Any sort of reflection brings life into focus.
