Either way, the sad thing is that criticism is often communicated in an extremely negative fashion.
Dear JavaScript,
James Kyle

Umm, welcome to the internet? I don’t understand how you haven’t become desensitized to the existence of angry/self-entitled people, but I can assure you of 2 things:

  1. they exist
  2. they don’t give a fuck about your feelings, or your Medium think-pieces

This phenomenon isn’t a “JavaScript” thing, it’s a “people” thing. IRL, you could solve it with social ostracisation, but anonymity limits the effects of that here. You could sorta fix it if you maintained a vetted/tight-nit online community (blocking out the rest of the world), or a very advanced spam filter. However, it’s much easier to just accept it, ignore it, and stop letting it bother you.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
