Yep. Gauging the long-term value is the key. I have friends who have done writing retreats and swear by their value, and I do think to a certain extent it is what you make of it. But there remains a cruel irony in charging so much to “help” artists succeed; I think it was James Baldwin who said something along the lives of “It’s incredibly expensive to be poor.”
