Two boys brought together by fate.
Fought beside each other side by side.
All in honor; none of hate.
Swept along the mighty tide.

Both met a boy their age.
Who’s of royal heritage
Treats lowborn as sheep for killing
Just to rise above all this tilling.

Time has come for the decision-making
What of the boys for the taking
Each has a home to return to
Yet life decides to mess up two.

Their new ally decides to turn his back
On the boys’ mission to save their pack.
Fires the crossbow straight to the heart
Of one’s sister whose life has taken apart.

The boy whose sister has fallen away
Has turn his back on the noble born
Leaving the other lost among the fray
His naive heart and young soul torn.

Years passed and the boys meet again
One who fights for truth; the other for power
Both at the ends fighting within the lion’s den.
Hoping they’ll meet once more when it’s finally over.

Betrayal, lies, injustice and evil are the enemies at the front
Their choices diverge the paths they take as they confront
But as each boy cross their paths, they remember the day
The death of that sister has made all the reason not to stay.

Clipped from the dialogue between Ramza and Delita. (Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions)

This is the product of Day 5 from the everyday writing challenge. I made it based on my personal favorite narrative game, Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. The poem was based on the event where Ramza’s and Delita’s paths separate after the death of their loved one causing them to fight for truth or for power.
