Exciting concept!
I’m going to read up on “Practical Magic.” It’s unfamiliar to me.
And Eureka Springs: OMG. That aerial shot is incredible. Showed it to Partner. He agrees. Says it reminds him of Montpelier, VT. Also, small town … albeit, the capital … nestled in hills. Brattleboro seems more like it to me.
We’re talking relocation, too. Probably New England. Maybe we’ll wind up in Montpelier.
Back to your wonderful concept. Here’s a similar experience from theatre:
I was in a production of selections from “Leaves of Grass,” set to music by the musical director of a company I worked with for a while. My solo: Crossing Brooklyn Ferry. When the director asked who I saw myself singing as, I told him: I’m that moment. The one where you recognize your connection to all that has been … and will ever be.
Most acting teachers will say you can’t do that. You have to play someone concrete; can’t go all esoterica. But for me and my purpose, it worked. Whether it came across to anyone else is irrelevant. People see what they need to see, anyway. The director was game, too. He had everyone else on the ship, gazing out from the railing; and no interaction with … or acknowledgment of … me, as I came up behind them to whisper/sing in their ear. “Just as you …”
Do write the rest of your story. I look forward to reading it.
