Thank you Bonnie. They migrate from South America to North America, a great distance. They are amazing flyers and sometimes you can hear a sonic boom- like sound when they descend due to the effect of the wind through their wings. I don’t think they are commonly sighted in Southern California but I did see them in early spring in Southern California a few years ago at dusk. A whole flock of them!
