Story Elements: The Basic Tools of the Writer Part 2

Thank you for these writing tips. I need to expand my toolbox. I could try these tips on some of the stories I have already written. Some of them could use a rewrite and expansion to turn them into longer reads. I shy away from dialogue so I would like to incorporate your tips into some of the outlines I have. I grew up listening to heavy accents from Newfoundland and Cape Breton. I have trouble conjuring them up but when I return to these places , I naturally fall into the speech patterns and local dialects. You provide lots of challenges here for a serious writer to take a disciplined route ; but how lovely to be able to slink off to a private space for days and really sink your teeth into the challenge.
