5 must listen podcasts about life
Are you late to the party with podcasts? I think we were but we are catching up fast. If you have not tried them yet I really recommend them. There are so many inspiring, creative interesting podcasts out there. This is a relatively new medium and people are really innovating, telling stories in new ways and providing exposure to individuals who might not otherwise get it.
Here’s a few of our faves in no particular order. They are all available on I Tunes and other platforms.
The Butterfly Effect by Jon Ronson
We totally caned this podcast on a long car trip and listened to the whole thing. It is all about the porn industry and the ripple effects of the decisions of one man and how they have come to change life for everyone. Absolutely amazing stuff! Everyone should listen to this.

Hashtag Authentic by Sarah Tasker
This is a great one for creatives. We really like Sarah’s style and her struggles with calling herself a creative while living in the north. Most episodes are an interview with creative people from all sorts of industries. They share their stories, why they do what they do and how they do it. We have learned tons from this podcast and are now avid fans. If you love Instagram, slow living and creativity then this is for you

Magic Lessons by Elizabeth Gilbert
This follows on from Elizabeth’s book all about creativity, Big Magic. It is one of our favourite books and if you haven’t read it may we insist that you do?
In each episode Elizabeth calls someone who has written to her with a creative dilemma and they talk it out. She gives them homework and then catches up with them later to see how they did. We love this. It’s heartwarming and also inspiring. If you have a project you yearn to get started on then this one is for you.

Weird Work by Sam Balter
This is a fascinating series of interviews with people who have weird jobs. I love hearing about what people do at work and how their jobs might affect the world. There are chats with a guy who writes crosswords, a lady who makes ASMR videos, a guy who writes erotic monster stories (proper weird!), someone who uses reclaimed fur to make clothing — it goes on and on. If you are inquisitive about the world then this one is for you.

Mrs Brightside by Susan Calman
Susan Calman is a former lawyer turned standup comedian and now a tv host. In this podcast she chats with other comedians about mental health issues. She suffers from anxiety and depression and loves to talk to people about their mentalness. The chats are unscripted and feel informal and fun but they are fascinating too. If you love learning about people this is one for you. We recommend you start with episode 3 with Felicity Ward its hilarious and there are parts we can all relate to whether we have a mental illness or not.
