Wines to Watch
Our wineries are putting their best wine forward this year for Harvest on the Coast. Here are a few extra special wines we’ll have available for tasting:
2014 Sparkling Wine by Biddle Ranch
The inaugural release of our estate sparkling chardonnay is bright and lifted on the nose with a delicate lean palate presence offering great length and nuance in a clean fresh expression. Hints of granny smith apple, pear blossom, and wet stone combine with more savory elements of white pepper and a slight brininess reminiscent of sea breezes. Subtle hints of lemon meringue suggesting the rewards of this wines layers and age-ability, for those willing to wait….
2013 Pinot Noir by Cutruzzola
Upon opening, minerality frames the flavors of red and dark cherry, plum, and baking spices. This wine is highly structured, with silky tannins. While this wine can be enjoyed now, we anticipate it will improve significantly with 3–5 years of bottle age.
2014 Lorenzo Red Blend by Filipponi Ranch
This blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre opens up with aromas of blueberries, allspice and notes of toasted French oak. The beautiful ruby color shines with bright clarity. Flavors of blackberries, plums and stone fruit are complemented with supple tannins giving this wine a luxurious finish. Pairs well with bolognese sauce, pizza and paella.
Primera Pinot Noir by Tolosa
Primera is our flagship wine, a cellar selection of the best barrels of Pinot Noir from our estate vineyard, Edna Ranch, and made in very limited quantities. This is a rare lot that, through terroir driven expression, reaches a level of quality rivaling the very best Pinot Noirs of the world, including the Grand Crus of Burgundy. Enjoy it today, or lay it down for years in anticipation of an experience born from a year-round commitment in the vineyard.
2017 Fund a Need Recipient: SLO Food Bank Coalition
The Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County works to close the meal gap for county residents in need, providing nearly 6 million pounds of healthy food each year, including nearly 3 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, with distributions in every community in the county.
