New Year New You!?

I’m taking a slightly different approach to 2018 & how I go about things. Rather than setting myself up with overwhelming goals & tight deadlines I’ve decided to make it all about creating good habits. Not just in my physical health & fitness, but my mental health & wellbeing .

Smaller, more achievable goals, I’m hoping will keep me focused & inspired. I’ve decided to set myself 3 things a month to conquer. I figure once they are under my belt as a good habit I can then use the following month to add another 3 and so on.

The fitness side of things is something I set myself year after year. I’m always looking to get fitter! Loose weight or tone up. Run faster or run further.

Mindfulness however is fairly new to me. New & exciting & something I want to really focus on bringing to my life on a regular bases.

So, January my 3 simple habits to create are as follows.

  1. Drink 2 litres of water daily

Hydration is SO important! Water regulates your body temperature & lubricates your joints. It helps transport nutrients to give you energy & keep you healthy. If you’re not hydrated, your body can’t perform at its highest level.

2. Start my day with a healthy breakfast.

Apart from providing us with energy, breakfast foods are good sources of important nutrients such as calcium, iron & B vitamins as well as protein & fibre. The body needs these essential nutrients & research shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for later in the day. I’m hoping once a good breakfast has been had I’m more likely to want to stick with decent nutrient packed foods for the rest of my day.

3. Meditate!

Regular meditation helps in relieving stress & therefore improves the quality of sleep. Less stress means more happiness. You will live a happier & healthier life with meditation. It is believed that meditation improves the immune system & thereby helps in controlling blood pressure & lowering blood cholesterol.

I’d love to hear what all you Mummies have planned & the methods you’ve decided to use.

Here we go then Mummies! 2018 has arrived. Good luck!

Catch up with you again on February 1st for my next set of habits.
