All the international students are invited to a local baseball game today to get a little whip of the true American life. It was very sunny, and I felt like I was getting cooked. I decided to go to a seat under the roof, because I’d get sunburns 10 mins under such sun. I asked my pale-while American classmates if they are the same. They said yes, and they continued to do so.
So according to basic dermatological knowledge, all the aging and illness related to skin are actually coming from sunshine. Want healthy skin? Stay from the sun, or get a proper amount of it. I knew this from my mom’s Doctor friend since I was like 7, and I almost never let myself outside between 12 to 3pm.
Another thing is with the food department. Everyone seems to watch the game with tons of junk food basically, popcorns, hotdogs, sodas, etc. I watch parents bought these for their young kids. Growing up in a family with incredibly healthy diet (most vegetables, some carbs/meat, minimal oil/salt, no sugar at all), I was astonished by these extravagant eating. I probably have one soda a year until today. I can’t imagine how much of the extra calories people get from this. I eat approximately 1300 calories a day, but a popcorn bucket alone has that much!
Nashville isn’t too much sporty either. Back in DC, you can see people running all the time, and a Sunday afternoon would be full of yoga, not baseball games.
And my uber driver, who used to sell medical equipment, told me that he’s a conservative. I asked if he would vote for Donald Trump, and he said yes. “Because Donald is really the best option left here today”, he explained, “Hilary Clinton is just a cranky bitter old women.”
Hello real world.
