How it is to Love You

Alternative Endings

My heart skips when I see your smile, laughter like music to my ears.
You capture me with your joy and light, I’m falling fast, disappearing fears.

Do you feel this connection too? Should I cling to threads of hope?
Or is this fantasy I pursue, a daydream I cannot cope?

Love can uplift, make us grow. It shouldn’t lead our hearts astray.
So I ask plainly, I need to know — could you love me back someday?

If you hold some affection for me, what future might we share?
And if we must stay apart, could a bond still be there?

Can love stay strong with distance and time?
Brief meetings and long days alone?
I know not what you feel inside, so I leave my heart here, exposed.

Please tell me truly where you stand. I’m ready for whatever may come.
I value what we have in hand, no matter if we must be undone.

My hopeful heart still clings on, through uncertainty and doubt.
I await your words, the die now cast — to learn what love is all about.
