Aaron Billings

Minicomic of the Month Club 2015

Aaron Billings is a small Irish boy living in Melbourne. He likes poetry, finding bits of wood on the street and drawing cute things.

What is your favourite thing to draw? Do you keep a sketchbook? What do you fill it up with?

I like to draw human figures mostly, often with statuesque poses. I also like drawing little made up trophies or marble sculptures. I like the idea that you draw such grand things in such a cheap and contained way, whole marble structures contained in a notebook.

What’s a great comic you’ve read recently?

Very Casual by Michael Deforge from Koyama Press

What’s the most enjoyable part of the comics making process for you?

I would say getting to know the characters as you create them.

Is print dead?

No. There are heaps of studies saying that people still prefer reading in print. Apparently information is retained in a greater degree. Also Zines and art books will always have a niche audience.

Do you remember the last cool thing you got in the mail?

It’s been too long :’( I am waiting for Werewolf Jones & Sons by Simon Hanselman and Html Flowers to come in the post.
