"What is war? It is young men dying and old men talking".

A quote by Odesseus from the movie Troy.

The very mention of the term War creates an eeriness in our minds . We realise that we have forgotten that Planet Earth was born as one, in which all the forms of life were expected to live and develop holistically. But we have ended up here, with borders made of blood of soldiers , dividing our planet, leaving back "irrelevant " feelings like love, peace and humanity.

Movies have always been our friend and they rarely fail in unfurling the reality, especially in the genre of Wars, both International and Civil and other Global Issues.

The Internet Media database, which is the most credible online database has a huge list of epic war based movies.

Schindler’s List is one of the best movies of all time in this category. This is about the protagonist, Oskar Schindler, who witnesses the persecution of the Jews by the Nazis, from when he starts fighting for the Jews. This movie has bagged seven Oscars and three Golden Globe Awards.

Saving Private Ryan, which was awarded Five Oscars is another resplendent movie which is about the US Militants who take up a life challenging task of saving their paratrooper friends.

George S Patton is a legend who we will never forget. Yes! The movie Patton which was set during the times of World War Two which is a taking bio pic of George. S. Patton which apprehended seven Oscars and a Golden Globe. In the movie Apocalypse Now, the Vietnam War is shown in it's best (worst) form. Captain Willard, who is the protagonist of the story, is sent on a mission in to Cambodia assassinate a Colonel. The outstanding performance of Marlon Brando and the cast triumphed them two Oscars.

Indian Cinema has proved in the past that we are no less than the Hollywood.

A fitting example would be Airlift, which is about the Indians who got foundered in Kuwait during Iraqi invasion and how they were brought back to our country with the protagonist, Ranjith Katiyal's laudable efforts . With 9.2 IMDB Rating, this movie has taken Bollywood to a whole new level of evolvement.

"Every man who wages war believes God is on his side. I'll warrant God should often wonder who is on his." - Oliver Cromwell from the movie Cromwell.

Any Movie related to a war enthrusts upon both the perspectives of the same and seldom takes side. This helps the audience develop a perspective which is non-partisaned, mainly for the ones who are getting to know about that particular war for the first time.

The Director plays maximum role in making this happen. One has to understand the nuances of the happenings, genuineness in the information available, as it is a very sensitive genre which spreads havoc in the minds of the people.

Mani Rathnam, the legendary Indian Director, in his movie Kannathil Muthamittal has bewitchingly shown the atrocities done to the Tamilians in SriLanka in his own style. He has made sure the audience are able to personally relate to each and every scene in the movie.

Movies like these definitely create an ever lasting impression in our hearts and minds. This is definitely a way to make the audience empathise with all the civilians, veterans and soldiers. Yes, the three hours in their shoes help make all the imperative realization in oneself. (Thanks to the incandescent movie crew)
