Traveling is not just about visiting places, be it cities, ruins, or national parks. A really great trip should get you in close contact with the local culture, show you how people live, what they believe in, what they eat, how they have fun. And is there a better way to learn about the culture than attend a celebration? Religious festivals, music concerts, weddings, races, traditional games — any such event will surely become the highlight of your vacation.
That’s why Smart Trip Platform will include a special module dedicated to events — our Calendar app. Like most other informational modules on the platform, it will be open to all users to expand and edit. This way, we can make sure that even lesser-known festivals and events are featured. What kind of events would you find on our Calendar? We want to include celebrations on all continents, both dedicated to modern culture and to traditional customs. For example:

- Palio di Siena — medieval horse race in Italy;
- Nativity celebrations in Ethiopia;
- Semana Santa in Cuzco;
- Holi — colour festival in India;
- Ice sculpture festival in Harbin in China;
- Rock music festivals, culinary events, dance competitions, anime gatherings, medieval pageants… and much more!
Each event in the Calendar will be much more than just a name, date and place. It will have a special travel guide-like page devoted to it, full of useful information:
- Getting there — with different transportation options and costs
- Where to stay, from campsites and hotels to the best spots to park your car if you are forced to sleep in the backseat
- Food and shopping
- History and background of the event — come prepared and impress your friends with your knowledge
- Ticket prices and where to buy them (of course, in the future we want to integrate ticket sales into the platform)
- Dangers and annoyances
- Customs and religious practices — importantly, things you definitely shouldn’t do.
A day does not go by without at least several fantastic events taking place somewhere in the world. Of course, not all of them are equally interesting or easy to visit, so Smart Trip Platform users’ reviews will be particularly precious. Just like all other reviews on our platform, event reviews will be rewarded with activity points, increasing the user’s rating. And you’ll be able to earn even more points for adding valuable information! The more points you collect, the faster your rating on the platform will grow and you can unlock new levels.
