A huge personal athletic achievement: I broke two hours in the half marathon last weekend, at Brazen Racing’s Summer Breeze race in San Leandro, California. Very flat and very fast course, perfectly ideal weather (Karl the Fog in full effect). A sub-two hour half was a goal I’d only recently even started to consider seriously (I ran the Capitola Half Marathon in 2:03:21 back in May), so achieving it this summer was a terrific feeling. Next up: repeating this kind of finish at future speed-oriented races, like Rock ’n’ Roll Philadelphia in September.
A huge professional opportunity: I recently accepted an offer to join the engineering team at Slack in the role of Senior Build and Release Engineer. I’m confident I will enjoy great success here, and I’ll begin this exciting next phase of my career on August 22nd.
This is where I would write about the third thing, but I’m waiting to see what it will be. Stay tuned.
