Welcome to The Illicit Popsicle

My name is Trevor Hultner. I’ve been pursuing a career in journalism since I was old enough to know what I wanted to do with my life. This is my blog.

I’ve been writing, podcasting, taking photographs and filming my way through Oklahoma City since I was 16, operating on the philosophy coined by Jello Biafra, among many others: Become the media.

I believe there is a huge transformative power in giving regular people the tools and efficacy to create their own media, rather than letting gatekeepers in traditional outlets direct and control the narratives that effect us all.

With this blog, my aim is to not only prove that it is possible to do journalism without the backing of an institution, but provide the resources that I use to do said work.

Additionally, I will be using my background in media criticism to comment on the goings-on in news media as a whole. To that end, I’ll often be crossposting the work that I do on my Center for a Stateless Society blog, Missing Comma.
