I don’t buy it.
I have worked in tech for 30 years and I can attest that there’s plenty of diversity.
I have sat through enough hiring sessions…making hand gestures…over enunciating…straining to communicate with non English speaking people…trying get a handle on whether the applicant was capable of doing the job.
In the end it didn’t matter that they weren’t “white like us”, or even spoke our language, because we hired them anyway.
I also spent years working for a foreign company that set up shop here. I was the minority. I had a manager who’s last name I literally never learned to pronounce (it had like 20 syllables). He was a great guy…and they had great Christmas parties, etc.
I have spent my entire professional life working with as many ethic groups as I can think of. Only results matter and everyone knows that…including your “racist” hiring manager. The only reason certain people are not hired is because they didn’t show up for the interview. Stop looking for “racists everywhere” and start looking for real solutions.
There’s plenty of diversity in tech…but maybe it’s only diversity if it’s populated with the right minorities… women and blacks, Latinos. All the millions of Indians, Chinese, Russians, Filipinos, Koreans, etc. that are working in tech jobs in the US don’t quality. Maybe you’re the racist here because it’s only diversity if you say it is.
