OFF (Mortis Ghost Game)

- I have actually played this game way back when I was 13, but had recently replayed it again because I love this game so much.
- The plot is about you controlling a character called “The Batter” and going around different areas called “Zones”, in which you “purify” them.
- Goals: when starting the game, we (The Player/Puppeteer) have control over The Batter (a man wearing a baseball uniform with a cap hiding his face at times), and tells us of a special mission he has; purify all 3 areas, called Zones. The Batter is completely aware of him being controlled, he acts like a savior of sorts, determined to purify and clean the Zones no matter what.

- Obstacles: There are four Zones, numbered from 0–3, with another Zone where the final act of the game takes part in(The Room); each Zone has a guardian at the end of the level that The Batter must kill in the classic style of RPGs. The Batter can level up, add new party members, gain special abilities, and buy power ups. However, this game has its fair share of puzzles such as finding a multi-digit password, locating missing pages scattered across an area, riddles, and “repeating room” puzzles; the player walks through the same room over and over again, following music. (If the player is getting close to the exit, the music will get louder, and if they mess up, the room resets so the player must try again.) At the end of each Zone, The Batter must go up against a Guardian and kill them in order to proceed to the next Zone and purify it.

- Rewards: After each battle with a Guardian, The Batter will receive a “Zodiac Card” which will allow them to access Zone 2. (You can only access Zones in numerical order, The Room is left for last.) You can then travel to other Zones on a map called the “nothingness.” Much of the rewards are finding power ups, rare healing items, etc. But the ones needed in order to progress are the Zodiac Cards that are collected after a Guardians dies. Another reward is getting a secret ending if the player manages to collect all 5 “Grand” items: after collecting them, you may trade them off to Zacharie, a merchant throughout the game, for the most power weapon in the game, or the Aries Card, which can now unlock the third/secret ending. This ending, however, can only be played after doing one of the two regular endings first; be warned though, it’s up to you if you want to try and get this ending, as it’s a joke ending. If you enjoy deep symbolic meanings, rpgs, puzzles, and just looking for a unique game to play, I recommend you trying out OFF by Mortis Ghost!
