Russia’s foreign trade surplus grew 2.4 times in January

The trade surplus in January increased 2.4 times compared to the same period of 2021, the Bank of Russia reported. Russia’s foreign trade surplus reached $21.4 billion in the first month of 2022, compared to $9 billion last year. “The record value of the trade surplus was slightly offset by an increase in the aggregate deficit of other current account components,” the regulator specified.
