Michael Horton may have just coined the term ‘Complexion Reduction,’ but Michael Jackson was doing it way before Apple :D
But seriously, this design direction reminds me of print stylesheets. Or ‘Reading Mode’. Seems to be little more than an opinionated Normalize CSS for apps — more of a starting point for design than a paradigm.
Thinking of it that way, I like this direction. I appreciate how this shift promotes accessibility, and simplified architecture for navigation. I just hope the design doesn’t stay this … bland. But who knows, maybe it will grow on me…
