Jai Shree Krishna! 🙏

As per the command of my Gurus and will of my beloved Sri Krishna I have started a blog series on concepts and wisdom covered in Gita.

This is our second blog in this series. In the first one we covered:

  1. A brief introduction of my journey of learning, practicing and teaching Gita.
  2. A brief introduction of the Bhagvad Gita
  3. Five fundamental concepts discussed in the Bhagvad Gita.

While these blogs strive to simplify Bhagavad Gita teachings, I recommend watching my Gita playlist first for a comprehensive introduction 📽️, then using the blogs to supplement your learning.

🌟 You can now find complete playlists of my Bhagavad Gita discourses in both Hindi and English on YouTube. 📚

In the second blog, we’ll dive into the meaning, definition, and qualifications of a term often misused, or even exploited: “Bhagwan.” Nowadays, many saints claim to be Bhagwan or some incarnation of it. 🙏

But being Bhagwan isn’t a label for just anyone. No human being can ever become Bhagwan. If someone is really Bhagwan then they must meet the criteria laid out in the scriptures. 📜

Defining Bhagwan: Unveiling the Six Qualities

According to Parashara Muni, father of Vyas Dev Ji Bhagwan exhibits these six fundamental qualities:

  1. All Fame: The Supreme Personality of Godhead enjoys fame unparalleled to any mortal being. The glory of Bhagwan shines across all universes. Human beings cannot even come close to such fame and glory.
  2. All Wealth: Bhagwan is the source and owner of all wealth in all universes. All planets, moons, suns, stars, mountains, rivers, all creatures, all gems everything belongs to him. No mortal being, not even Bramha can claim to have wealth comparable to Bhagwan.
  3. All Beauty: Bhagwan is the Beauty, in its purest form. The Supreme personality of Godhead is the origin and culmination of all beauty in all the universes. All the beauty of the entire universe can be relished just by getting his one glance.
  4. All Knowledge: Bhagwan created the universe for his play. Because of this, he knows absolutely everything about it. He knows what happened in the past, what’s happening now, and what will happen in the future, not just in this universe but in all universes. He’s like the ultimate source of knowledge. In fact, we could say he is knowledge personified.
  5. All Strength: Bhagwan’s strength is way beyond anything we can imagine. It’s stronger than any human or Demi God. In fact, all the strength in the world comes from Bhagwan, but his own strength is even greater than all of that combined.
  6. All Renunciation: Amidst the abundance of divine qualities, Bhagwan displays the ultimate renunciation. Detached yet compassionate, the supreme being remains untouched by worldly entanglements created by him. Even with all his opulence Bhagwan is the epitome of renunciation.

Distinguishing the Divine from the Mortal

In a world where claims of being Bhagwan have become a routine, Parashara Muni’s teachings offer a timeless yardstick for discerning the truth. We need to understand that mortal beings are plagued by:

  • Impermanence: Mortal existence is governed by the transient nature of birth, death, and rebirth. Bhagwan is ever existent. He is eternal.
  • Lack of control: Bhagwan is the supreme controller of all the universes and everyone’s destiny. But us humans cannot even control our own body, let alone everyone else’s destiny.

Conclusion: Embracing the Essence of Bhagwan

In the journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening, the concept of Bhagwan acts as a guiding light, illuminating the path to transcendence. 🌟

As we reflect on the profound wisdom of Parashara Muni, may we endeavor to embody divine virtues in our quest for truth and enlightenment. 🙏 It’s crucial to recognize that while we share similarities with Bhagwan, such as our essence, we cannot attain omniscience and omnipresence even after liberation.

Bhagwan governs the entire universe, while we, as spirit souls, lack control over our own lives. Therefore, we must exercise caution before placing someone on the pedestal of Bhagwan. 🌿
