The secluded Northwest

The great Northwest had no shortage of vast wilderness to explore from the rocky peaks of the Olympic mountain range to the blistering cold of Mt. Rainier. There was no greater feeling than emerging from the dense cloud coverage of Mt. Rainier to see the awe inspiring peak a few miles in the distance. Although the sense of loneliness was strong on the mountain, it could not compare to the isolation felt on Sourdough Mountain in North Cascades NP. Standing 5000 ft above the water below gave a balanced feeling of tranquility and power. Olympic NP gave an entirely different feeling than the two other parks as the diversity of nature was unreal. From dense rain forest to crystal clear lake to a beach straight out of a horror movie, the range was deep and powerful. Ultimately the mighty pacific northwest made for a fantastic, secluded trip during the wild times of COVID-19.
