Gold discovery in Australia

During the past 160 years, Australia has seen numerous gold discoveries. Perth Mint has played a key role in the gold industry by producing legal tender gold coins, and by distributing Australian gold products. It is now one of the world’s largest gold refiners. In addition to the gold that it processes, the company produces silver and platinum products. It has also been accused of stealing gold that was mined in Papua New Guinea using child labour. However, Perth Mint says it acted in accordance with responsible sourcing rules.

Perth Mint’s latest release, the Discovery coin, celebrates two of Australia’s most prized natural riches. The coin features four exceptional Argyle pink diamonds handset in precious metals. It also tells the story of the Kimberley region and its history with gold. Its reverse is a tribute to the monetary denomination, and includes Ian Rank Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin itself weighs two kilograms of pure gold and is available for sale. It will be on display at the Perth Mint Shop in Hay Street until September 28.

The coin was unveiled by the Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Bill Johnston. The coin is a celebration of Western Australia’s history with gold, and is symbolic of the Kimberley region, home to the famous Argyle pink diamonds.

The coin also pays homage to the prospectors who discovered gold in Western Australia. It depicts a gold digger panning for gold, a sailing ship, and an Australian baobab. It is also a tribute to the craftsmen and women who have helped to shape the history of gold mining in Australia. The coin is produced by Perth Mint, one of the world’s largest gold refiners. It is manufactured in an 8,400 square metre facility in 2003. The coin is one of only a few weighing over two kilograms of gold.

The obverse of the coin is a nod to the “Holey Dollar” of 1814, which was Australia’s first official currency. The coin has a diameter of two centimetres, and features a small, cast iron mold that holds the monetary denomination. It is a commemorative coin. The obverse also features the gold P mintmark placed near the edge of the coin.

The coin is a collector’s item of distinction, and tells a story about two of Australia’s most treasured natural riches. It is also a tribute to the prospectors who discovered gold in Australia, and is symbolic of the Kimberley area, home to the famous Argyle Pink diamonds. It will be sold in limited quantities.

The coin was minted to mark the 160th anniversary of the first gold discovery in Australia. Its obverse displays the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. It has four Argyle pink diamonds on the obverse, and the coin shows the monetary denomination. It is the first of the Australian Nugget Gold Coins Series, launched by former Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
