You call it ‘One Day’ until you realize ‘Today’ is ‘The Day’.

To start with, this is my first write up on this platform. Previously, I have contributed to various magazines/ newspaper (I owe it to the concept of delegation).

Sounds formal? Yup. That’s what writing too many professional mails does to you :(

How good are we at procrastinating?

I find myself pushing a task to 7:15 because 7:09 isn’t just the right time to do it. We always need an anchor and multiples of 15 do the job for me.

How much time do I lose in this process?

I don’t even care to take a note of it but I do keep a track of the number of hours I get to sleep.

What Kabir Das taught me in class 3rd:

Kaal Kare So Aaj Kar, Aaj Kare So Ub
Pal Mein Pralaya Hoyegi, Bahuri Karoge Kub

What Millennials taught:

Kal ka Kaam kal par hi rehne do

Kya pata usse Karne ki Zaroorat hi na padhe

We, Gen Y, have been brought up in a culture of social media and technological advancements wherein the efforts we put into something is inversely correlated to the speed of our internet. We are assured of our last minute exertions turning fruitful and hence the efforts remain minimal. We are so certain that we tend to procrastinate.

The aforementioned is true in case of tasks dominated by deadlines. What about the things we’re passionate about?

Are we all still waiting for that ‘One Day’ to knock at our door? Sadly, it won’t. Ever.

We just have a day comprising 24 hours or 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds.

If this isn’t enough, what is?

Effective utilization of time (Model — 1)

1) Make a list of things you wish to cover up in a day

2) Allot time for each of them

Since I am pursuing MBA, I would use a graph to put forward my ‘To do list’.

In Hours

Even after considering all the routine activities, I still have 3 hours to myself. Every Day.

We are never out of time; we just lack the drive to do it.

Next step is to figure out the source of motivation and to use it as an anchor.

The success depends on no one but YOU.

Effective utilization of time (Model -2) — The Millennial version

Why always thrive for perfection when we can be imperfect yet beautiful?

We have one life and if all we care about is about utilizing our time in the best way possible, we’ll miss all the fun.

Personally, I am not convinced with either of them completely. I would prefer a hybrid model.

Let’s revise the pie chart.

In hours

Pretty much it!

Not really a motivational post but I hope it made a little sense to you.
