Tick, tick...boom is a 2021 American biographical musical comedy drama film directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda in his feature directorial debut. Written by Steven Levenson, who also serves as an executive producer, it is based on the stage musical of the same name by Jonathan Larson, a semi-autobiographical story about Larson writing a musical to enter into the theater industry.
"Tick, Tick...boom" is a valuable work talking to the audience about the birth of greatness which is not spontaneous at all. The main character - Johnathan Larson - is an American composer, lyricist and playwright most famous for writing the musicals Rent and Tick, Tick... Boom!, which explored the social issues of multiculturalism, substance use disorder, and homophobia.

Johnathan Larson had been working on his musical "Superbia" for long six years, he lived in a loft with no heat on the fifth floor of 508 Greenwich Street, in Lower Manhattan. Every weekends he worked in the bistro "Moondance" and the rest of his week was occupied by musical. "Be led by fear or by love" was one of the ideas of the film. Johnathan was sure to choose love. His friends were dying one by one because of AIDS and he felt as if his end was approaching him, his 30th birthday and he believed that it was about to be a great success or curtains for him. He devoted his life to music and there was no way to make mistake. It could cost him everything. After the show there was no one to have a burning desire to patronize him, however, there was the only person he wanted to satisfy. Stephen Sondheim-one of the most important figures in twentieth-century musical theater. He prized Johnathan Larson's quite high and gave him a helping hand in subsidizing his musical. John's life wasn't let go down the wind, his success turned out to be great, he showed what musicals can be.
Speaking about cast, it's work is outstanding. Andrew Garfield in the leading role did his part just brilliant, he sang all the songs by himself and played the piano as well! Emotions he expressed whatever it was: disappointment, despondence, excitement, pride, sadness-everything was natural and organic. As long as the film is partly a musical, all the actors were to sing perfectly and in a harmonious unity.
