Is this the greatest pitch ever?

I was at the National Theatre the other night and saw this on the wall. It’s part of a small exhibition about the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of The Battle of the Somme.

No mood film.
No fancy graphics.
No hyperbole.
No outrageous claims.
No false promises.
It’s a simple idea, simply expressed.
Using words with power and emotion.
Just 16 lines in black and white.
Not written by an agency, or a consultant.
But by an artist, Jeremy Deller.
Someone who is genuinely ‘all about the idea’.
So much so that he made sure that nothing was put in the way of it.
It’s great, isn’t it?
We have a lot to learn my friends.
