What are investors looking for when funding Africa focused companies? That’s the question we ask everyone who attends our #NewGenInvestorsdinner and having done over 5 of these highly curated private dinners,we can answer some of those questions:

But first what are these dinners all about?

NewGenAngels Investors Dinner is a unique experience set in private members clubs and private dining rooms. Investors get a chance to meet unique entrepreneurs and vetted high quality investment opportunities. New investors get a chance to connect and learn from other experienced angels. Our unique proposition is that we exclusively focus on Africa.

The dinner is composed of a talk from a guest speaker ,networking and a pitching session while enjoying a 3 course meal, wines, water and other beverages of various softness. We have a simple objective: connect people who have a common purpose and interests but never get to meet and foster serendipity and make meaningful connections.

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with people that are passionate and servicing Africa across multiple sectors and jurisdictions. They look for :

  • A strong focus on execution: having teams that can execute in their markets and expand beyond their home markets is paramount.
  • Willingness to learn : (both the entrepreneur and the investor )most European based investors looking to enter Africa are equally looking to learn from the entrepreneurs and local investors so that they can see how they can develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Local traction: not necessarily profitability but there needs to be some levels of traction and validation.
  • You can’t knock the hustle: building a large business is no child’s play and finding the right entrepreneurs is very important.

To find out more, you will have to come to the next dinner on the 28th April 2016.
