Game design by a terrible graphic designer

I am a graphic design noob.

I even had a lot of problems in an elementary school in art classes. I hated them. I think the feeling was mutual. It didn’t come as a surprise that one of biggest challenges when making my very first mobile game was doing the graphics. Actually, what I did was probably the only sensible thing I could probably do.

I love Prisma. I love Unsplash. I combined the two.

Still, using these tools was more a constraint than anything else. I do believe in the power of constraints though. They create an environment where creativity gets unleashed.

The final result has certainly exceeded my own expectations. Many gamers love the art and consider the graphics great. Some even ask if I drew these pics myself. You might agree or not — taste is very subjective — but you must admit that they’re not that bad for someone who is a terrible graphic designer…

Btw, the game is called Hydropuzzle and is available for download from the App Store and the Google Play.
