12 Things Most People Don’t Know About The Israel — Palestinian Conflict

The Historic Basis of the Conflict
1. Jews are Indigenous to Israel. Jews have lived in their home-land for at least 3000 years. They named the country, built its cities, cultivated the land, buried their ancestors, built temples, worshiped, created writing, education, social, and legal systems there. Judaism was not developed into a political weapon to rule masses, thus the nation remained smaller as others grew. The land was later occupied by a string of empires — Greeks, Romans, Crusaders, Arabs, Egyptians, Turks, British.
2. Cultural Imperialism. The last 2000 years has been an age of cultural imperialism. Billions were converted by sword to Christianity and Islam. Judaism was foundational to both of these religion’s theologies. Rather than respect their mother faith, it was often seen as a threat and efforts made to subjugate or eliminate it. Judaism was one of the only faiths from this period to survive the onslaught — and it paid a heavy price. Jews were forced to wander for millennia as stateless refugees.

3. Institutionalized Persecution. Forcing people to adopt one faith and restricting their speech makes them easier to control. Jewish culture highly values literacy, education, and independent thought. Tyrants truly had something to fear from people who have, at their best, fearlessly studied and spoken truth, refusing to conform. This led to persecution of Jews at national, religious, and tribal levels — a tendency that has been deeply embedded in Western culture since Roman times.
4. Cultural Appropriation. Christianity forcibly replaced paganism, often co-opting its symbols and shrines. Similarly, Islamic warriors spread in all directions — thousands of Christian, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Buddhist, and Hindu temples were destroyed and replaced with mosques. King Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem, destroyed by the Romans 2000 years ago, was replaced with a mosque 600 years later.
5. Hijacking faith. Theologically, Islam found it useful that Israel as a sovereign nation disappeared for centuries. Although Islam appeared 2000 years after Judaism, theologically it seeks to exert ownership over Judaism, and vengeance against Jews for not accepting Muhammad as the Jewish Messiah. Under Islamic occupation, mosques were built at virtually every Jewish sacred site, and are still there today. Tragically, Muslims violently try to prevent Jews from worshiping at Judaism’s holiest places to this day.
6. Ideological Conflict. The “Israel — Palestinian” conflict is actually between Jews and Muslims. It is not about land, but rather the attempted hijacking of Judaism by Islam. The stated goal of mainstream Palestinian political groups is the annihilation of Israel, usurping of its holy places, and murder of Jews.
The Conflict in Modern Times

7. Fabricated Narratives. The current label of “Palestinian” as applied to Arabs living in former British Palestine, began in the 1960s. Previously, the Arabs called themselves Syrians or Arabs, and Jews were called Palestinians. The co-opting of the Palestinian name was an attempt to fabricate a historic connection. Ironically, as Arabic has no letter “P”, Arabs can’t correctly pronounce “Palestine”.
8. Recent Arab Immigration. There has never been a Palestinian people, language, culture, or nation. The Romans renamed Israel “Palestina” after conquering it. Control shifted between various empires for 2000 years. The population 100 years ago was minimal. New development by the British and Jews caused increased Arab immigration to the area, which the Ottomans further encouraged to increase their control. Arab populations increased further under the Jordanian and Egyptian occupations after 1948.
9. Palestinian Pawns. Palestinians are used as pawns by the Islamic world to fight Israel. Iran and other countries fund, train, and direct proxy armies, such as Hamas, against Israel. Polls show most Palestinians want to leave, but no Arab country will offer them citizenship. Instead, they send them weapons, indoctrinate them to hate, and turn their neighborhoods into war zones. Palestinian schools and media (even cartoons) teach children to hate and fight Jews starting at pre-kindergarten ages.

10. Manipulation at the UN. In 2015 the UN issued 20 resolutions condemning Israel, and 3 against all other countries. The 56 Islamic nations often vote as a block. Only 97 votes are needed to pass resolutions. Many dictatorships and poor countries are easily pressured by oil-rich countries. The Arab Lobby spends billions to influence the West — through our media, universities, and directly to politicians. Big business is also enticed by opportunities for enrichment.
11. Seducing the Left. Arab and Muslim political activists have seduced liberals by using their buzz-words effectively — victim, apartheid, colonialism, occupation, social justice. This is no accident. Tyrants are threatened by the very presence of freedom. Bored youth in rich, free countries dream of romantic rebellions. These regimes understand the best way to hide their true intentions is through elaborate, seductive stories. Inoculations are needed. True social justice must be based on a deep understanding of history and current events, not just style, passion, drum circles, and placards.
Hopes for the Future

12. Social Evolution. Current conditions in the Middle-East (besides Israel) are not enviable. Nations falling apart, lawlessness, cruelty, warlords, poverty, tribalism, lack of education, limited free speech, lack of women’s rights, killing of homosexuals, ethnic cleansing of Christians and other minorities. Sadly, this has been going on for centuries. Societies are based on ideas and values. Democracy only works with an educated populace. We can only hope that Islamic culture will look hard at itself and try to evolve to a social structure that brings more happiness, freedom, and wisdom to its people and the world.
