There is a new kid on the block and we are all excited to put our first impression about this brand. The name of the brand is Skyworth and today we’ll be reviewing a TV from this very brand. Well, to start with Skyworth is a Chinese brand who has entered the Indian market quite recently with the game plan to the consumers with some great electronic goods at reasonable price. What’s more? The products are technologically developed and have all the latest features which might become a challenge for one to overlook compared to the price.

With being said, the candidate, in this case, is Skyworth 55G7200 4K UHD AIR TV with a 55-inch screen and priced at Rs.169990/-. So, should you consider buying this product? Let us find out in the review below.

Product Description

  • Screen Size — 55
  • Display Resolution — 3840 x 2160(UHD,4K)
  • Pannel Type — 4K IPS
  • Digital TV — DVB-T/T2/C/S/S2

Design

We will start with the appearance of this new-born baby in the market and to be precise, the design is sleek and simple. The silver Skyworth logo is placed at the centre of the bottom frame and thin frame runs along the sides and the top screen of the TV. This just adds a lot of vibrancy to the beauty of the panel. Apart from the chrome strip at the bottom, Skyworth chose a pair of correspondingly styled legs to amp up the look of G7200 and to make it sit pretty low on whatever surface you place it.

On the whole, the TV will add a dash of elegance to your living room with its sleek and classy get-up. It can seamlessly slip into your living room and in spite of being a fairly wide TV, its thin body measuring 61.8mm throws a light on the fact that it is easy to setup.

Picture Quality

Next, we went to test the picture quality of the TV. This UHD TV serves up to a 3840x2160 resolution, which is great when viewing Full HD content via a digital decoder. To make things more exciting, with 350 nit brightness and 1200:1 contrast ratio, G7200 will deliver great picture if you have a Blu-Ray player, stream hi-res movies and videos, or have a next-gen console to make the most of it. Thus, picture wise the TV will deliver great image quality compared to the price you’ll be paying for this TV. However, when compared to other high-end brands, you might find it a bit low but again, you must consider the price and the fact that it is yet to develop a lot more.

Sound Quality

After a good picture quality session, we were ‘not-so-happy’ about the sound quality of this TV. The overall experience from this UHD TV is solid indeed, but does fall a tad short on the sound side. There are two 8 watt speakers on-board, but the pitch in volume they deliver is on the poor side. You might find things sounding clear and nice, but when compared to other 4K UHD TVs, the sound quality does not even come close. You might just need external speaker set up to accompanying G7200 to experience a richer sound quality.

Features

Here, we will quickly go through all the features that the TV has to offer us. Check the list below.

  • 4K UHD Smart TV for a nice, clear and vibrant picture quality
  • Netrange App store
  • Smart Plus technology for faster Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Built-in Wi-Fi
  • Multiple Interfaces for multiple connectivity options.
  • If you looking for the local release of Microsoft’s Xbox One S or Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro, then G7200 is a good option to consider.
  • Skyshare option so that you can navigate your mobile contents to your TV without any fuss.
  • With this TV, you can say a big yes to PVR recording.

Connectivity

Now, comes the connectivity of this TV and let us see how good it is in this context. Being a UHD TV, the Skyworth G7200 connects with the Wi-Fi via its SMART (Linux based) capabilities. The TV also comes preloaded with a number of apps which are required to match our day to day lifestyle. You’ll also find stuff like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Netrange (a media portal for content such as preloaded movies and international channels), along with a web browser.

However, when we tried setting up Wi-Fi connectivity, it took quite long when navigated with the on-screen keyboard and we were quite disappointed by it. We also found the signal receiver for the TV’s remote which is found on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen was quite difficult as well. It took two or three pushes on the same button to make it work which is something not quite acceptable.

Apart from that, G7200 is pretty well equipped when it comes to media and ports. We did a quick survey of the rear portion of the panel which has three HDMI connections, two USB slots, two RF inputs, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and LAN port. As such, G7200 is capable of being turned into a media hub for HDD or USB playback. This connectivity compared to the Wi-Fi connectivity was faster and yielded quick results.

You can also share your mobile contents on the big screen with the feature called Skyshare quite smoothly and we did not notice any problem. Thus, in terms of connectivity we have a kind of love-hate relationship with the TV or maybe we expect a better performance.
