This is a strategy that won’t attract clients or public and that will give the company a corporate approach or “tone”, something that will be regarded as aggressive and outdated.

In the same way, as you open your business to the world, the company will be exposed to it and, with this, critiques may arise, and you might have to deal with the so-called trolls, your errors might be too visible and the reputation of the company could end up damaged.

Other disadvantages with Social Media are the privacy and security issues that these can facilitate, like unintentionally giving clues to your competition and being ultimately extorted by this competition.

Something you also need to be ready for is the investment in resources you will have to bear, remember that these social media tools are not 100 % free and sometimes it will be necessary to invest money in order to carry out some strategies or campaigns to compete with other companies. Besides, you will need staff who can devote time to these tools and who know how to use them properly.

Social media is more and more indispensable for a company but it needs the same attention as traditional marketing does. Otherwise, instead of strengthening the business, social media can help outdate the company in the characteristic speed of the Internet.
