UN Appoints New Member to Its Blockchain Commission for Sustainable Development

To accelerate the development of blockchain technology, UN Blockchain Commission for Sustainable Development (BCSD) appointed Lawrence Cummins, CEO of blockchain-focused Black Cactus Global, to its Board of Commissioners.
The UN BCSD, whose members are iblockchain leaders from all over the world, was established in this September. Since its inception, the commission has been actively promoting the application of blockchain technology in various projects, including the implementation of blockchain technology research and development initiatives, the pilot deployment of food distribution systems and the promotion of Ethereum payment system.
Black Cactus is a founding member of Blockchain for Impact, a community platform of the UN BCSD. The platform is designed to facilitate a global partnership to develop blockchain technology via organizing related summits and impact committees and related events.
Through the commission, Cummins will work with members of the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (UN-OSAA), UN High Commissioner for Refugees (HNHCR), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and others to achieve the sustainable development and practical application of blockchain technology.
The commission also seeks to establish a clearly stated policy for the implementation of the best blockchain solutions on a global scale to achieve social well-being, enhance market transparency and increase trusts between stakeholders and underdeveloped countries.
