I’m not even sure when I heard the phrase ‘Pain is the experience of weakness leaving the body’, but it stuck and comes to mind when I use the word for its many apt appointments. We often speak of pain points in business, identifying them, quanitfying them and in many cases this monetizes them. The body becomes a metaphor for some greater likeness of us: body of work, body politik, etc. So the phrase follows my thinking, but then so does the pain.
Seeking pain is a strange and attractive means of exercising humanity as an entrepreneur. If there’s no pain in business, there’s no opportunity. Without a problem, there’s no need for a solution and problems are just some rationalization or expression of curated pain points…
Any salve applied for relief must itself be borne out of some historically retracted pain… a deeper and more mature understanding of ourselves in new contexts says yesterday’s pain is ok today, when put to the right use.
This is a pinpoint, a speck of dust, to explore, feel that, exorcise it, amplify it and feel it leave my body.
