Apple, the Cupertino giant, usually reserves any news for its own shows, but this year, CES was used to release a bombshell. Apple content will become available on Samsung TVs as well on a different level on LG, Sony, and Vizio. Apple is faced with the first massive drop in iPhone sales since the smartphone was launched over a decade ago and so is looking for the next growth domain both in the smartphone market and beyond. It’s not yet clear if this new ecosystem is going to remain a walled garden where just a few select vendors can play, or become a new industry standard, but the Cupertino-based giant is looking to widen the distribution of its long-awaited streaming service who’s launch is rumored to be imminent. …
