To me, Web Component is the Web most important evolution since… the Web. The problem is that there is not really anyone in the industry that seriously carries the flag since all major players have their own alternative (Read on…).

Google has made significant efforts to promote WebCmpnts with its Polymer library but even them are relatively shy to promote them as Web Components declaring them as “Angular Components on the inside and Standards on the outside”. For Angular developers, there is no incentive to dig deeper.

It took quite a long time for the browser players to come together on this standard 1.0 but still, some support is lacking on some browser. Some implementations are shaky, particularly from Apple who has a lot to lose on his Appstore revenues from developers.

Lately, I had been busy on backend business so the micro-frontend movement went by under my radar. I will certainly spend time researching this initiative as I see it as a community-wide effort to pick up where the majors have left.
