you’ve got it wrong
life will leave you out to dry, leave you forgotten, to rust, to mold, to disintegrate, and form into the earth as if you were never there. you will be buried in the ground under layers of dirt, and all of your troubles, worries, fears, emotions, and knowledge, every party of your heart, mind, and soul will be buried with you, too.
life doesn’t wait for you to make up your mind. to choose where you want to live, to fall in love, sometimes with people you can’t help loving. it throws curve balls at you, and you learn to catch them in the palm of your hand, one after another after another because sometimes, you don’t have enough time to move out of the way.
life will slow down when you are weak and in pain, and will speed up when you need to catch your breath. it will pile more and more things on your plate until you set down your fork, walk away, and say, “I’ve had enough. I can’t do this anymore.”
life will make you want to give up, will discourage you, make your eyes swell and make your forehead sweat. it will tell you that you’re too dumb, too fat, too this, too that. it will tell you that you’ll never be good enough, you’ll never be the person everyone else wants you to be.
but that’s when you need to buckle up, face the world head-first, and say “you’ve got it wrong, this is how it’s going to be.”
Sincerely yours,
c.k.
