WHY IN-PERSON DROPOUT IS IMPORTANT?
I have always been the kind of person who has so much difficulty in accepting the fact that I still have space for improvement. I have never really challenged a situation that made me nervous or challenged my potential. But, here I am nervous like I have never been before, stammering and standing outside Huaweii Main Office with a beating heart ready to drop oout my resume and give my elevator pitch.
Staying at home and thinking you know everything and can handle everything pretty well is so easy. Actually going to a place that challenges you and your confidence is very nerve wrecking. I asked for permission through my brother who is working for the company and went their at the required time. I was completely equipped and well dressed and looked super composed obviously I was dying inside). I was called upon and just as predicted by AMAL, the HR manager didn’t seem to care for my existence. But anyhow, I grabbed his attention by telling him how much interested I am in their particular company and showed them I had done research about their work and about the manager himself.
After 5 mins of me ranting about him and the company, he finally gave up and asked me to take a seat and tell him why exactly I was there.I presented my elevator pitch (which to be honest, doesn’t include much experience yet he was impressed by my confidence and knowledge about it’s importance) I handed him over my CV. I showed a lot of gratitude and I won ‘t lie, he seemed startled and told me this is the first time he has seen someone so prepared for something they are not even offering and he admired my behaviour and passion.
It was very difficult to stop myself from stammering and fidgeting, but so worth it in the end. In-person dropout is something that build your confidence and prepares you for the interview itself.
