Want to be successful ? GO #ExtraMile

Have you ever answer an choice question in exams, just so if any one of above gets wrong, this will cover it up. That’s going an extra mile. Do something that is unique. Everyone is not going to do that and it also reduce chance of your failure. People mostly just do what they are told to do. They don’t bother to even do a little more. But that’s the point that you can use to show that you are passionate, by doing something more by going the extra mile. You can apply that in class, projects, workplace and even at your home.
For me, I researched on few companies, edited my resume according to their requirement and mailed them. then next day I decided to personally visit the companies and meet the HR manager, introduce myself to them, to show how passionate and serious I am about the job. For me, this was going an extra mile and I was sure that this will make a positive impression of me in their mind. But I was not as easy as I thought. My first problem was the guards. When I went to first company, the guy didn’t even let me stand in front of the gate and said that no one from management is available. Then I went to other one and it was the same. The third one allowed me to enter but after waiting 2 hours, the girl at reception said that no HR manager is available and I had to go from there too. It was really frustrating. I just felt like all of this is pointless and I should not even have come here. But if it’s not difficult, what kind of extra mile it is.
Finally, the forth company that I visited, allowed me to enter. I waited there for about 20 min and they said that its break time, so HR manager is free now and I can meet him outside. I was going out when a guard told me that the person standing there is HR manager. I went to him, gave him my resume and while I was telling him my Elevator Pitch. I get so confused and nervous. I forgot what I practiced and stopped. Then I took a moment, cleared my head and talk to him normally. He was kind guy and free at that moment or else he would not have even listened to me.

It was a great experience. I messed up with elevator pitch. But everything else went great. I realized how different it is when you are practicing and when you actually talk to a person. Extra Mile do work but it is really hard. Don’t take it lightly. Prepare your mind first and then go for it with will to never give up and you will never fail. Even the thought of failure will never come close to you.
