BORDER AND SHADING

First of all, we are going to learn what is border and why we apply border on text. Border is apply to highlight the text, we can also apply border on heading, whenever you read the newspaper you will have seen that important news are bordered with thick line, so here we are going to learn how to apply border on text.

First of all, you have to select your text, go to the home tab and select border option , you can see the image below.

BORDER OPTION

Select your text and click on Drop Down Option beside the Border option, as you click on it a drop down box will show, here you have to select the option “all borders” as you click your text will be decorated with border, now if you want to remove your border you can also remove it select again your text and click on “no border” your border will remove.

You can also remove any one border of all borders, for example if you want to remove only one side border, then select your text and go to the Border option again and this time click on Bottom Border or Top Border or Left Border or Right Border. It will remove one border, which you want to remove.

You can see the Top border has been removed, this option you can easily remove top, left, right and top border

You can also change the border line thickness, you can also change it color and line style (Dotted line or Dash line), Select your Text and click on Border and shading option

as you click on this option, a box will appear with the name of Border and Shading,

if you want to change the line style just click on style option and change the line style (You can select dotted line, Double Line, Dash Line) after that, if you want to change the color of the line click on Color Option and change the color, third option is width, here you can change the thickness of the line. You can see the example below where i have change the border, line style, Color and Width also,

Challenge:-

  1. Select the Text and apply the border
  2. Select the text and remove any one border of all
  3. Select the text and change border line style
  4. Select the text and change border color and width
