Anniversary of Iraqi invasion of Iran.

Never forget, never forgive.

36 years ago on this day Iraq started its invasion against Iran. Most Arab states, with the notable exception of Syria and Libya, supported that invasion. That’s a hint for you if you have ever wondered how the theocratic, non-Arab Iran has been so close to the secular, pan Arabist Syria or something something Ghaddafi’s Libya.

Many Western states supported that invasion too, implicitly or explicitly. Some Western states, such as Germany, sold chemical weapons to Iraq. Some Western states, like United States, helped Saddam with the intelligence it needed as he gassed Iran. The US was well aware that Saddam Hussein’s Iraq was launching some of the worst chemical attacks in history against Iranian soldiers and civilians, and they went on with intelligence sharing(they do the same for Saudis in their invasion of Yemen).

Since this morning, Facebook has been blasting me with its ads on how it is the International Day of Peace and how the peace comes from the heart. That’s a dumb notion. I know for a fact it doesn’t. Peace came for us after 8 years of wielding whatever Iranians had against an invasion aided, funded, and armed by the so-called “International Community” and its client states.

Lest we forget.
