I don’t know what I’m talking about so I’m going to document it until I do.

So, I have very little knowledge and experience with product design. Aside from the fact that I want to be involved and I think it’s super cool, this is where my expertise ends. But all professionals must begin somewhere right? I’m sure there are many people like myself who don’t really know where to start to get involved in their interests — so this is for the people who are just as lost as I am.

Starting something you don’t have any knowledge about is incredibly daunting. How will I ever get to where I want to be??? So I’ve decided that I’ve got to break it down. I’ll be sharing my process from how I get from point A to point B to point C to the goal line, which for the moment isn’t really defined. But I’ll figure that out along the way.

For starters, I’m very lucky because I get to be part of a program called Kai Mentorship. Basically, I get to work with a Wesleyan alum involved in the field I’m interested in and she’s going to teach me what I need to know, guide me toward more resources, and help me accomplish my goals. Together, we establish a mini project to pursue and over the course of a semester, we edge our way over to its completion.

My mentor guiding me through the daunting task of learning new things.

Stay tuned to see how I go from “confused and lost noob” to “product design master”.
