A PROJECT MANAGER ONE AND ONLY TASK

We use to think the main task for project managers is to apply resources efficiently or hit the deadline on time, or respect the scope and its deviation.

All those things are goals and they are only achievable through the one and the only task a project manager should focus on, which is: to reduce uncertainty.

You need a clear vision to reduce uncertainty, as well as connecting to the right people at the right moment for their commitment, information, and resources.

Uncertainty distracts and jeopardizes stakeholders focus and effort.

Day to day activities make us all miss the important. So, the next time you’re in doubt about what to prioritize in your PM backlog, go and reduce uncertainty.
