My Unexpected Mentor: Summit Coach

This is how Summit Coach Gave My Dreams a Lift and became my unexpected mentor. I am Solace and would love to share my story about chasing dreams, overcoming obstacles, by utilizing one platform that made all the difference for me: Summit Coach.
As a 21-year-old Ghanaian who immigrated to South Africa when she was 9, I yearned for a mentor, someone to guide me through life’s twists and turns, because I became tired of going through trials and obstacles alone with no support to easily turn to. And to be honest, good coaches or mentors can be expensive, and converting dollars to rands as an immigrant? Forget about it.
Feeling discouraged, I kept searching because I refused to keep on going through life alone. Then, like a beacon in the fog, I found Summit Coach. It was like a breath of fresh air — a coaching app packed with valuable resources, all within reach.
From Stuck to Starting:
Before Summit Coach, I was just a girl with dormant hopes and dreams. I wanted to create a platform to tutor kids between the grades 1–7 English, Mathematics and Afrikaans or Isizulu because through my tutoring experience I realized that kids lacked crucial foundational skills, and there were many huge gaps in their knowledge. I also wanted to connect teens to mentors ‘who get their struggles’, so that they could have a helping hand during their final years of high school so that they build crucial skills and develop mindsets that would help them thrive beyond the educational system. So, I did what anyone would do when they have a business idea. I started creating a website that would illustrate my vision. However, The Peer Academy website was a dream gathering dust for an entire year. I felt overwhelmed, unsure where to begin. But Summit Coach’s motto, “Start Somewhere,” resonated deeply. It pushed me to take that first, crucial step, even if it wasn’t perfect.
Growth Through Guidance:
Summit Coach wasn’t just about starting; it was about continuous growth. The app’s prompts and exercises helped me map out my goals, identify my strengths, and overcome challenges. Just like a coach, I had Summit to keep me accountable for my actions ensuring I completed tasks, worked on my healing journey, and adding to my value to ensure that I became a better version of myself daily to assist those in need of my services. And I was always grateful for the reminders and check-ins that would pop up on my notification screen.
More Than Just an App:
While the free resources were a game-changer, the Summit Coach community truly surprised me. It connected me with like-minded individuals facing similar struggles. We shared experiences, offered support, and celebrated each other’s wins. It was very encouraging to see others succeed, accomplishing their goals and being the best versions of themselves as well as playing crucial roles in their communities. Sometimes not all heroes wear capes, you know.
Collaboration for Success:
Recently, Peer Academy has created its socials on Instagram (@peeracademy.online), Facebook (The Peer Academy), and TikTok (@peerinfluencing). My personal TikTok (@yayrasworld) focuses on empowering young adults to make their 20s count for a fulfilling future no matter the circumstances and setbacks
Here’s the thing: I wouldn’t be here without Summit Coach. Yes, my platforms are literally a month old and still growing, but I’m actively pursuing my passion with the incredible support of this app.
